The Texas Supreme Court hearing of the case challenging the state’s near-total abortion ban is underway.

The case represents a group of twenty women suing the state of Texas — women who were denied access to necessary abortion care after severe and life-threatening pregnancy complications.

One woman couldn’t receive an abortion in her home state, even though her pregnancy was unlikely to make it full-term, and even if it did, the baby would not survive after birth.

It is a gruesome and traumatic story, but one that Texas’ extreme abortion ban makes all too common. We’re watching the hearing closely today, and in order to prepare for all possible scenarios, we’re building up an action fund to fight back. Whatever the result, we’ll be working hard to restore reproductive rights in Texas and around the country.
