At ASAP, our vision of a better world is one that centers local farms as critical to the health of communities, local economies, and our beautiful landscape.

When ASAP printed our first Local Food Guide over 20 years ago, the listings included 58 farms, 32 farmers markets, and 19 restaurants who sourced from local farms. Today, the Local Food Guide has more than 1,200 listings! The local food movement is growing. THIS is what is possible when we keep working to promote local agriculture and create viable market alternatives for farmers.  
 
And YET it was still shocking to learn in ASAP’s most recent producer survey that 42% of WNC farms reported less than $2,500 in sales. To supplement income, 24% of farmers in our network work 200+ days each year off their farms. 
 
We know what’s possible because we see how many more local farms, farmers markets, and restaurants are listed in today’s guide. Our options for buying local have increased. But collectively we have more work to do to sustain viable farm businesses in our communities.
 
We need you! With your support, ASAP steps in and provides resources, training, and one-on-one support to sustain working farmland and attract new farmers to the region.
