Dear John, Today on Giving Tuesday, we ask for your support for workers around the world who are showing us how to build power across borders to transform the global economy. Despite huge obstacles, millions of workers continue to organize at work for a better future for their families and communities. This month, the Biden Administration recognized the importance of worker organizing around the world in its recent Memorandum on Advancing Worker Empowerment, Rights, and High Labor Standards Globally which recognizes that low wage worker organizing around the world combats inequality, contributes to development and democracy, and connects to movements for just transition, fair migration, and to combat gender based violence and harassment. |
We ask for your continued solidarity over the next year as we stand with:
- The Tamil Nadu Textile and Common Labour Union and the Asia Floor Wage Alliance as they show how the Dindigul Agreement to Eliminate Gender Based Violence works to prevent gender based violence and harassment and build strong industrial relations on garment supply chains;
- The International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers’ Associations (IUF) and local hotel worker unions in Guinea, Zambia, and across Africa as they win better wages, working conditions, and protections for the right to organize at hotels funded by development banks;
- Indonesian migrant fishers working in the Taiwanese fleet who launched the global Wi-Fi Now for Fishers Rights! Campaign;
- Seasonal farmworkers in Honduras who are demanding job security, labor rights, and freedom from retaliation at multinational fruit corporation Fyffes;
- Asian garment workers and unions in the Fight the Heist campaign demanding Nike end stock buybacks and take responsibility for unpaid Covid19 wages;
- Cotton Campaign partners who have shown the impact of a ten year effort to end forced labor in cotton harvesting in Uzbekistan– even as the fight continues to ensure the government doesn’t backslide on its commitments;
- And many more workers and unions around the world.

With your support, we are building momentum for a more just global economy. With gratitude and solidarity, Jennifer (JJ) Rosenbaum Executive Director |
