Parkinson’s hasn’t been easy, of course. About five years ago, my legs started to freeze up when I walked. Balance became a problem, too – as falls became more frequent, I started to wear knee pads. I have embraced these adaptations because they mean it’s still possible to live on my terms. My cane is another adaptation – putting my carpentry skills to good use, I added a piece of wood to the bottom of it to help me get moving. That’s the thing about Parkinson’s. It is challenging in so many ways, but it is still possible to find hope. To set goals to work towards. To create your own story rather than let things happen to you. Today on Giving Tuesday, John, I’m asking you to give generously to Parkinson Canada so that others can create their own stories, too. Remember, today is your only chance to have your gift doubled – so please make sure to donate before midnight. From one supporter of Parkinson Canada to another – thank you from me and my family. Sincerely, Rudy Erfle Living with Parkinson’s since 2008
