Dear Jack,

Today is Giving Tuesday and this year, Survival is aiming to raise £160,000 / $200,000 to support Indigenous people like Joro as they fight to protect their lands and lives. Will you help us reach our goal today?

Joro’s story
Joro grew up in a then-uncontacted Ayoreo community in Paraguay’s Chaco forests, living sustainably on the land that had belonged to her ancestors for centuries. But when outsiders began tearing up their territory and exploiting their resources for agribusiness, much of her family was forced to flee the forest and make contact with outsiders. Since contact, many of her community have died, and survivors suffer from discrimination and chronic ill-health. The community is urgently asking for your support as they reclaim their land — and ensure their uncontacted relatives can continue to live in their forest.

To date, Survival has helped Ayoreo communities reclaim 140,000 hectares of their ancestral homelands — that’s bigger than Delhi, India. This success is a testament to the resilience of the Ayoreo and the outstanding support Survival has received from people like you.

But the fight’s not over yet: these reclaimed areas of land are still largely disconnected from one another, and huge swathes of the Ayoreo’s territory remains unprotected, threatened by the urgent threat of deforestation. Survival’s campaigning is urgently needed — please help us keep going.

“We are asking for help from people in other countries. Because we need you.” – Rosalino, Ayoreo man, Paraguay

This Giving Tuesday, two generous donors will match every donation made to Survival, up to the value of £80,000 / $100,000. This means you can double your donation at no extra cost to you.

Please, stand in solidarity with the Ayoreo and uncontacted Indigenous peoples worldwide this Giving Tuesday.

With thanks,

Caroline Pearce
