Earlier today, Adam and the girls gave me a card with the well wishes he collected from people all over Virginia and the country, plus a few VA07 residents living overseas! I’m so grateful for the heartfelt birthday wishes and the math tutorial from one friend who noted that I’m “halfway to 80”! ;-)

On my birthday, I’m reflecting on all the people who have influenced me throughout my life, those who believed in me enough to elect me to Congress, and those whom I’m so honored to represent.

I find my daily motivation in the people whose stories drive me, whose strength inspires me, and whose belief in our communities and our country make them believe that we can always be better and do better and that progress is worth working and fighting for.

I’m working hard on Capitol Hill and back home in Virginia for those I represent and want to continue doing so. That means I’ll need to get through a tough re-election campaign. Would you consider helping me celebrate my birthday with a campaign donation?
