Our Justice System Has Failed, We're Changing It.

For more than twelve years, Dignity and Power Now (DPN) has been championing for equitable treatment within the criminal justice system.

As the Holiday season begins, it is often bittersweet for the families that DPN serves. For them, it is a time of remembering their loved ones who have lost their lives at the hands of the criminal injustice system.

During this season we are reminded that the the system is broken.

Dignity and Power Now (DPN) has been organizing coalitions and lifting-up the voices of formerly incarcerated people and fighting for families whose loved ones have died or survived sheriff violence.

Meet Helen Jones, activist and program leader at DPN

The mission of DPN is embedded in the stories of our team members who have had their lives forever fractured by our criminal justice system. Helen Jones, lost her son, John Horton, at the hands of a Sheriff Deputy gang in Men's Central Jail, yet she found the strength to turn her pain into fuel and fight for justice. We are honored to be sharing Helen's story.
