Here are some updates.

• The New Mexico Supreme Court unanimously upheld the state’s congressional map, rejecting a Republican lawsuit arguing that the map unfairly benefits Democrats. The current districts will remain in place for 2024 and beyond.

• The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Georgia can continue to hold at-large elections for its Public Service Commission, reversing a lower court’s ruling that the election method violates the Voting Rights Act and dilutes Black voting power.

• The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Arizona lawmakers must produce documents and testify about two voter suppression laws requiring strict citizenship proof for voting. The lawmakers sought to escape having to release records and submit to depositions.

• Georgia officials appealed a decision ordering the state to draw new congressional and legislative maps with additional majority-Black districts. A special session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday for lawmakers to enact new maps.

  • Today, the Georgia Senate committee released a new proposed state Senate map with two additional majority-Black districts.

• A Colorado man has voted in every election he could since 1966. But his shaky hands almost got his ballot rejected this year because of Colorado's strict signature matching rules. 

  • There is an ongoing lawsuit challenging Colorado's signature matching process for mail-in ballots. The lawsuit alleges that the process is “deeply flawed,” “error-prone” and results in the disenfranchisement of tens of thousands of qualified voters.

Here’s what’s coming up in the courts tomorrow.

• Oral argument will take place before the Texas Supreme Court in a lawsuit challenging a new law that abolished the appointed election administrator position within Harris County, home to Houston and the state’s most populous county. 

• There will be a hearing in a 14th Amendment case seeking to disqualify former President Donald Trump from the New Mexico primary and general election ballots in 2024.
