Friend –

If there was one thing I wish I could tell the politicians, pundits, and the DC politics-bros obsessed with the political hot potato of the day, it would be to go outside and touch some grass.
Seriously. From some of the outrageous things I’ve seen and heard in Congress – like spending more time voting on hyperbolic censure resolutions and doomed-to-fail candidates for Speaker than actual policy – it’s crystal clear that a lot of the career politicians serving in Congress spend more time caring about petty BS on Capitol Hill than they do actually visiting their communities or talking to the people that they claim to work for.
It’s ridiculous, and it’s why I decided to do something about it by becoming a co-chair of the Blue Dog Democrats. Our message is pretty simple – we’re the adults in the room who care more about getting stuff done than about what a pollster or a pundit says about it.
But here’s the thing – there aren’t a lot of us in Congress right now. Of those of us who ARE here, we’re going to have to fight some of the toughest fights in the country to keep our seats against the extremist Republicans. That’s why I’m asking you to chip in today. Friend, your donation goes directly to electing Democrats in some of the closest races across America.
I ran for Congress against an extremist weirdo that no one thought I could beat. I’m here because I believe in fixing the things that keep Americans up at night. The Blue Dogs do too. You don’t need any messaging poll or pundit to tell you that sometimes you should set aside partisanship and do what’s right for real people. Help us get things done, help us elect more Blue Dog Democrats.
In the meantime, DC, go outside and touch some grass.
