Harvey Weinstein will spend the next 23 years in prison. The years he will spend behind bars do not erase the pain and suffering he has caused to all affected by his actions. However, his conviction and sentencing sends a clear message that those who commit sexual violence will be held accountable – no matter who they are. We are profoundly grateful for the strength, resilience and perseverance of the survivors of Weinstein's abuse. It is reported that one in five Hoosier women have been sexually assaulted; Indiana ranks 4thhighest in the nation for the number of reported rapes among high school girls and yet, 85% of assaults are not reported in our state. This must stop. Moving forward, justice should be served more swiftly. ICESAHT will continue to stand boldly with survivors as they come forward to share their lived experiences, seek justice, foster hope and healing, and find peace.
