John,
We have had a busy few months here at Team Golden but, as one of Jared’s top supporters, we wanted to keep you in the loop on all that Jared has done in the district. He’s crisscrossed the state, listening to folks talk about the issues that matter to them and to Maine.
Your support allows us to make sure that Jared can put working families’ priorities first. John, we’ve pulled together some updates on the work that Jared has been doing these past few months. Take a look!
Fighting to Strengthen Unions:
Jared led an effort for the House to consider a bill that strengthens the ability of workers to form a union and creates stronger enforcement provisions. Jared knows that if unions cannot bargain with strength, they cannot secure the best wages and benefit packages. This is about providing for hardworking Mainers and making sure that corporate interests don’t outweigh the livelihood of workers.
Meeting with Small Business Owners:
Jared joined small business owners at the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council to discuss the challenges and successes of running a small business. He also held a roundtable discussion in Bangor, listening to local small business owners, business leaders, and other community members. Jared made sure to emphasize the federal resources, such as Small Business Development Centers, that exist around the state.
Working to Establish a Rural Office at the Small Business Administration:
Given that our district is the second most rural in the country, Jared has worked with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish an Office of Rural Affairs. The SBA appointed a new director to get the office up and running and, at Jared’s invitation, she recently took a tour of Lewiston with Jared as her guide. By partnering with the SBA, Jared is working to spur small business growth and investment across the district.
Jared Golden represents Maine's 2nd Congressional District. He's a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Jared is fighting in Congress to defend health care access, end the opioid crisis, and stop corruption in Congress. If you want to learn more, you can visit [link removed] .
