Friend,

Scientists say 2023 will be the hottest year in over 125,000 years. On Friday, November 17, we saw one of human history's most significant and dangerous events when global temperatures rose to an unprecedented 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

Three days later, CNBC announced that it was dismantling its climate desk and will no longer have staff dedicated to covering climate at all.

This disconnect represents everything wrong with for-profit corporate news. We’d be laughing if it weren’t so predictable — and outrageous. And heartbreaking.

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, one of the most important fundraising days of the year for nonprofits, and we’ve set a make-or-break goal of raising $15,000 to keep us strong.

We simply cannot survive without your support. Will you make a Giving Tuesday donation to help Common Dreams keep publishing?

DONATE

It’s the hottest year on record, and so long as we have your support, we’re not going anywhere.

With solidarity and gratitude,

Jon Queally
Managing Editor
on behalf of the entire Common Dreams team

P.S. Common Dreams relies on its sustaining donors to make long-term plans to improve our reporting. Will you become a monthly donor today?
