Join the National Association of Scholars on Thursday, November 28, at 2 pm ET for "The Birth of the Digital Age—The Microchip."
Decades ago, the computer was a massive object, something seen only by a rare few scientists. But thanks to the invention of the integrated circuit and the silicon microchip, smaller, more accessible technology became possible. This was the crucial first step to transforming computers into small, personal machines. How was the microchip invented? Who were some of the key players and what role did they play?
This event will feature T.R. Reid, lecturer, documentary film maker, and author of The Chip: How Two Americans Invented the Microchip and Launched a Revolution; David Laws, the Semiconductor Curator at the Computer History Museum and writer; and Luc Bauer, author of The Microchip Revolution: A brief history.

Join the National Association of Scholars on Friday, December 1, at 3 pm ET for "Finding Truth in the Postmodern University | Randy Wayne."
For many years, Randy Wayne ([link removed]) of Cornell University has been fighting the good fight for truth against postmodernism: a creeping ideology that denies truth’s very existence. He, along with the Heterodox Academy Campus Community ([link removed]) and the Cornell Free Speech Alliance ([link removed]) , has been holding the Cornell administration’s feet to the fire, particularly over the administration’s argument that free expression is of equal value against the competing and incompatible values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. At stake is an existential question: what is the purpose of the university?
On March 24, 2023, Randy Wayne was our guest on Restoring the Sciences, where we discussed “Truth in the Postmodern University ([link removed]) .”
This event will feature Randy Wayne, Associate Professor of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He is the recipient of the 2023 “Courage in Education ([link removed]) ”awarded by the Steamboat Institute of Colorado for his outspoken defense of free inquiry.

Join the National Association of Scholars on Friday, December 8, at 3 pm ET for "Restoring the Sciences: Science Under Attack."
Free inquiry, open debate, and skeptical questioning are the cornerstones of healthy science. But does that describe science today? Arguably, no—those cornerstones are currently being eroded at universities and scientific institutions around the county.
Can scientists pretend that science is immune to the ideologies that have conquered the humanities and are now sweeping through a broad range of disciplines in the science ecosystem? "No," says Dr. Lawrence Krauss. Science is imperiled, and without scientists standing up for core principles, the vibrancy of scientific discovery and scholarship is in danger of following the liberal arts to a post-truth future.
This event will feature Lawrence Krauss, a cosmologist, theoretical physicist, author, and winner of numerous international awards for his scientific research and his writing. He is a passionate advocate of science, and for enlightening the public on the value of science to society, and the importance of defending science’s core principles. He is president of The Origins Project Foundation.
