COP28 is already setting records...

Red State(11/25/23) column: "When you see or hear 'United Nations Climate Conference,' what's the first thing that comes to mind?  Climate change? Global warming? Joe Biden? John Kerry? Al Gore? The existential threat to mankind? Carbon footprints? Massive wealth redistribution? All of the above? You're far from alone if any or all of these thoughts instantaneously pop into your head. After all, God knows how hard the left pushes the stuff. Welp, here we go again. The upcoming UN Climate Conference is projected to have a larger so-called 'carbon footprint' than any of the 27 previous UN climate change confabs. Why how can that be, you ask? I'll take a stab at the answer: Leftism is all about being seen and heard at the places you're supposed to be seen and heard...COP28, as the next conference is known, will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at which more than 70,000 people are expected to attend — roughly 25,000 more than trotted out to COP27 in 2022...Anyway, Biden's climate grand poohbah, the ever-smug John Kerry, recently suggested that the U.S. will pay 'millions' into the 'loss and damages' fund. I know — try to control your amazement. Dan Kish, a senior fellow for the Institute for Energy Research, blistered Kerry — and Biden — over the ill-conceived fund, in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation: 'With John Kerry and Joe Biden promising billions in U.S. taxpayer money and beefing up the treasuries of non-governmental organizations with tens of billions of dollars in 2024 get-out-the-vote activist money, this year’s climate gong show was bound to attract record numbers of camp-followers, celebrities, kleptocrats, and other misfits. It’s as though they’re ringing the dinner bell which always attracts people looking for a free lunch.' Bingo. And is it any surprise? Hand out free money, and they'll come running as fast as they can. That's universal, whatever the reason or cause, however ill-conceived."

Mayor Bowser must have been confused. She thought she was going to Dubai for a Cops convention.

Fox News (11/26/23) reports: "Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser is facing criticism for taking a trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar this week to discuss climate change and to promote D.C. as a tourist destination amid spiraling violent crimes throttling the nation’s capital. Bowser’s office said Saturday that the mayor will depart Sunday for the Middle East 'as part of the US Conference of Mayors delegation for the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference.' 'Mayor Bowser will join leaders from across the globe for the first-ever local action climate summit, hosted by the COP 28 Presidency and Bloomberg Philanthropies. She will first visit Doha, Qatar to engage with leaders on the issues of infrastructure, sports and education, as well as promote Washington, DC as a destination for investment and tourism in partnership with the DC Chamber of Commerce,' her office continued in a press release. The trip comes after the city recorded its 249th homicide for the year, the highest number of homicides since 2003. Homicides alone have spiked by 35% so far this year when compared to the same period in 2022, police data published Nov. 22 show."

"There is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap during some of the summer months could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years.” -Al Gore at COP15 (2009)

The map would look a little unruly, perhaps, but why not?

Reuters (11/25/23) reports: "The premier of Alberta, Canada's main oil-producing province, on Saturday said her government intends to move an act on Monday to shield provincial power companies from proposed federal clean electricity regulations. Speaking at a morning radio program on Saturday, Premier Danielle Smith, who says the plans of the federal government to cut greenhouse gas emissions will wreck the energy industry, said she was driven to act by frustration with the federal government. Alberta has long been at odds with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government over energy policy. Last month, in a victory for Alberta, Canada's Supreme Court dealt a blow to Trudeau's government by ruling that federal law assessing how major projects such as coal mines and oil sands plants impact the environment is largely unconstitutional. 'We have been trying to work collaboratively with them on aligning their targets with our targets,' Smith said on Saturday said on the radio program 'Your Province. Your Premier.' 'We will not put our operators at risk of going to jail if they do not achieve the targets that have been set, which we believe are unachievable,' Smith said. 'We have to have a reliable grid. We have to have an affordable grid, and we're going to make sure that we defend our constitutional jurisdiction to do that.'"
