Dear Friend,

The Maine Climate Council has started its process to update the state's climate plan, Maine Won't Wait, by December 1, 2024. During its kickoff meeting on September 29, the Council heard from in-person and online attendees that the updated climate plan should be bold, ambitious, equitable, and actionable, plus much more as shown in the the word clouds below.
Do these words describe the climate action plan you would like to see? As climate planning moves ahead, here are some ways that you can share your input with the Maine Climate Council:
  • Attend a working group meeting: Maine Climate Council and working group meetings are public. Visit our Meeting Calendar to see upcoming meetings. Many working group meetings have opportunities for public input.

  • Contact the Maine Climate Council: You can send a message to any Working Group at any time here. Please choose a Working Group in the drop-down menu.
Keep an eye out for these upcoming opportunities to participate in the Maine Climate Council:
  • Public webinars: The Council will host several public webinars about the climate planning process and answer your questions. A schedule is expected in early 2024.

  • Outreach to priority populations: The Council is working with partner organizations to connect with priority populations, which are individuals and communities that are most vulnerable to effects of climate change and/or have limited resources to respond. If your organization engages with priority populations and would like to be involved in this work, please click here to learn more and fill out our interest form.
Lastly, thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts at the kickoff meeting or through our Fall 2023 survey. We are reviewing your responses to inform the climate planning process, and appreciate your partnership in our work.
