Donating stock or securities offers a number of key benefits:

* When you donate your appreciated assets, you can save on your taxes by avoiding capital gains tax.
* If you itemize deductions on your tax return, you can also take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount.
* You may also receive carryover of the deduction for up to five additional years if the fair market value of the gift is more than 30% of your adjusted gross income.
