Iowa evangelical leader taunts "chump" Trump with "golden showers" dig
Right-wing evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats, who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, officially jumped ship and endorsed floundering presidential wannabe and part-time Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Republican primary race last week, and the serially indicted ex-president was none too pleased. Trump fired off signature, thumb-smashed barbs at Vander Plaats — whose nonprofit curiously received a $95,000 donation from the DeSantis campaign prior to his endorsement — calling the evangelical a "former high school accountant" and scammer. Not to be outdone, Vander Plaats responded, calling the disgraced con man a "Chump" and reminding Iowans about the infamous Russian pee pee tape, which is hilarious and also a thing we cannot believe we're still talking about in 2023.

Israel and Hamas look open to extending truce on its final day, with one more hostage swap planned
Israel and Hamas appeared close to extending a cease-fire in Gaza that has halted their deadliest and most destructive war but is set to expire after Monday, with a fourth exchange of militant-held hostages for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel planned for later in the day. Israel has indicated it would extend the cease-fire by one day for every 10 additional hostages released. Hamas has also said it hopes to extend the four-day truce, which came into effect Friday after several weeks of indirect negotiations mediated by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

Winning an open Arizona seat will take back the House
Yassamin Ansari for Congress: Winning in Arizona means we get our majority back — and losing means that some of the most unhinged election-denying, democracy-hating Trumpers in the country will be headed to Washington. Yassamin Ansari is a fantastic candidate running for Congress in a crucial Arizona seat to make sure we deliver President Biden a new majority for his second term! Can you chip in to help keep Trump's most radical minions out of office?
Three students of Palestinian descent shot in Vermont, suspect arrested in apparent "hate-motivated" attack
Police in the city of Burlington arrested 48-year-old Jason J. Eaton after he reportedly harassed, shouted at, and subsequently shot three 20-year-old college students of Palestinian descent in what police are investigating as a "hate-motivated" attack. The students, two of whom are American citizens and the third a legal resident, were visiting Burlington to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with families and are thankfully expected to survive the attack. The incident came amid a stark rise in anti-Palestinian sentiment in the US as the devastating Israel-Hamas war enters its eighth week.

Sketchy Trump pardon on final day in office blew up DOJ probe into predatory lending
Jonathan Braun, a Staten Island man with a history of violent threats who at the time was serving a 10-year sentence for his role in running a giant marijuana sales ring, secured a presidential pardon on Trump's last day in office after his family leaned on a connection to Jared Kushner’s father, which in turn blew up a sweeping Dept. of Justice probe into predatory lending. Braun was set to be released from prison in exchange for providing information on other industry insiders in the probe, which conveniently sputtered out once Trump granted Braun his freedom. Braun's family had previously vowed to spend millions to secure his early release. Surely nothing more to see here, folks. Next!

Elon Musk to meet Israeli president, Gaza hostage families amid ongoing antisemitic accusations
The billionaire tech bozo and famed car exploder who has developed a penchant for amplifying anti-Jewish hate, will meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Monday along with Israelis whose relatives have been held by Hamas in Gaza in an awkward attempt to staunch the bleeding from his blatant, increasingly antisemitic actions. For those keeping score at home, Musk — among other acts of bigotry — recently agreed with a tweet that falsely claimed Jewish people were stoking hatred against white people, saying the user who referenced the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory was speaking "the actual truth." We simply can't wait to hear what illuminating nuggets of wisdom Musk will gift us later today following this latest PR move.

Joe Biden won't attend major UN climate conference in Dubai
The UN summit, known as the Conference of the Parties, or COP, begins this week in Dubai. World leaders and envoys are expected to travel to the Emirate as scientists continue to warn the planet has entered "uncharted climate territory" due to the ongoing release of greenhouse gas emissions and a slower-than-necessary response to wean the world off fossil fuels. Unfortunately, President Biden will not attend the conference this year as he handles the US response to ongoing crises in Gaza and Ukraine, the White House said Sunday.

GOP congressman wigs out over "satanic trees" for Christmas
Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher pranced onto Fox News to manufacture fake outrage over a Wisconsin event featuring dozens of uniquely decorated Christmas trees because it included one comically themed tree designed by the Satanic Temple's Wisconsin chapter, an organization that in fact does not actually worship Satan, but exists almost exclusively for moments like this. Gallagher called the tree "woke," whatever that means, and whined that he could no longer attend the event — spoiler, he wasn't going to anyway — because he doesn't want his kids "to be surrounded by satanic trees." Um, who wants to tell Mike about the Christmas tree's polytheistic, pagan, definitely NOT Christian origins? Anyone?
