Democrat Officials Want Biden To Fight Border Law

• Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and other Democrat county judges across Texas are calling on the Biden administration to intervene against a new state law designed to punish individuals for illegally entering the country. Emily Medeiros has the details.
     
• The Democrats claim that the new legislation will make “local communities less safe” by taking resources from other projects. They also claim the new law runs afoul "of the federal government’s jurisdiction over immigration law."
       
• The Democrat officials also assert the new legislation will harm the United States’ relationship with Mexico.
       
• Their talking points have been refuted by the legislation's author, State Rep. David Spiller (R-Jacksboro), who said the measure represents the only way for state and local enforcement officials to deal with the flood of illegal aliens.
       
• “Texans will protect Texas—especially when the Biden administration has failed and refuses to secure our border and enforce federal immigration law,”said Spiller. “It’s the strongest border security bill in the history of our state and our nation.”

McKinney ISD (Finally) Removes Sexually Explicit Books

• More than two years after parents began demanding action, the McKinney Independent School District finally removed sexually explicit titles from the shelves of its libraries. Erin Anderson has the details.
     
• McKinney parents began challenging explicit and age-inappropriate books in school libraries in 2021. The challenges were part of a heated debate that was—and still is—happening in school districts across Texas and nationwide.
          
• Officials in nearby Plano ISD also recently removed library books considered too explicit for students—but only after months of public pressure from parents and the community.
       
• Starting next year, a new law will require all Texas school districts to remove books rated by vendors as “sexually explicit” and keep those titles out of school libraries.

Celina School Administrator Charged with Soliciting a Prostitute

• An administrator in Celina Independent School District is accused of soliciting a prostitute online.
       

• The school district waited two weeks after Assistant Superintendent Russell McDaniel was charged with solicitation of prostitution to inform the public and announce he had been dismissed. And then only because local media had started asking questions.

        
• Celina ISD Superintendent Todd Maglisceau described McDaniel’s arrest as an “unfortunate” situation.

Denton County GOP Chairman Runs for North Texas Senate Seat

• Despite being censured by his local county GOP officials, Brent Hagenbuch is mounting a run for an open senate seat. Sydnie Henry reports Hagenbuch will seek the seat being vacated by Republican Drew Springer.
         
• In January, the Denton County Republican Executive Committee censured him for having donated to a Democrat candidate running for local office. Hagenbuch was serving as the Denton County GOP chairman at the time.
          
• Hagenbuch had already drawn a challenger in the party chair race when he announced his run for the state senate.
