Hello,

It’s been another few exciting months for My Life My Choice!

On 16th November, we held our AGM. Members elected the new trustees for the year 2023-24 and celebrated with a silent disco! It was great to see some new faces elected to the board amongst our experienced trustees.

The Don’t Lock Us Away ([link removed]) campaign has seen great progress. Alongside Inclusion London, we ran the first meeting for a new self-advocacy network focused on getting people out of hospitals. Champions Pam and Shaunie spoke on deinstitutionalisation at a national learning disability conference ([link removed]) , and trustee Ben was featured in the Times! We were also delighted to hear the news that rail ticket offices will be staying open ([link removed]) after adamant campaigning from our Champions ([link removed]) and other advocacy groups. Congratulations to our Champions on all their hard work.

All of this success could not happen without our dedicated members and committed supporters, so a huge thank you to you all!

** We Can’t Wait film wins at the Big Syn Awards!

MLMC’s We Can’t Wait film won in the charity film category at the Big Syn Awards ([link removed]) , the world’s biggest sustainability film festival. The Champions attended the ceremony held at the Curzon in Mayfair. Winning films were shown on the big screen in Piccadilly Circus! ** Didcot: New self-advocacy group!

From January, we will be running a new self-advocacy group in Didcot. Our groups are a place for members to make friends and talk about what is important to them.
