Meet 4-month-old Sanad from Yemen.
His mother took him to the hospital after he started to feel sick. She soon discovered what was wrong with her son: Sanad, like millions of other children in the war-torn country, was suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
Thankfully, the hospital has a UNICEF-supported Therapeutic Feeding Center where children and their caregivers can access the health and nutrition care they urgently need. This made it possible for Sanad to receive immediate treatment and begin his recovery. He’s now significantly healthier in such a way that his mother says, “My baby is finally smiling and laughing. It makes me so happy." |
Sanad’s story is one that’s familiar to millions of children and their families as the world confronts an unprecedented food and nutrition crisis.
More than 45 million children are affected by wasting — the most immediate, visible and life-threatening form of malnutrition. Children like Sanad are too thin and their immune systems are weak, leaving them vulnerable to developmental delays, disease and death.
With help from people like you and UNICEF, more families like Sanad's can feel optimistic about every new day. When children have the opportunity to thrive, the impacts are felt across entire communities — bringing hope to those who need it most.
Before this TRIPLE match ends at midnight, please donate to ensure that UNICEF has the resources required to reach children in crisis and make every new day better than the last >>
Thank you,
