I grew up in Mansfield, Ohio, in a community of ironworkers, carpenters, autoworkers, and electricians. My dad was a doctor and my mom was president of our local YWCA. They taught me the importance of hard work and serving one's community, and I've done my best to pass these values on to my kids and grandkids. Today, I live in Cleveland with my wife, Connie, and our two rescue dogs, Franklin and Walter.

But I'll be honest with you: Over the years, we've seen more and more of the manufacturing jobs Ohioans have depended on for decades shipped overseas. Corporate profits have skyrocketed while workers' wages remain stagnant. Jobs folks used to be able to count on to support a family and save for a decent retirement just aren't paying off the way they used to.

That's why I'm fighting every day in the Senate for the Dignity of Work – all work. No matter what kind of work you do, I promise to fight for you.
