Dear March for Moms supporter,

2020 continues to be an exciting year for us and our work together. In particular, a critical set of legislation was introduced yesterday that we’ve been involved with, moving us closer to ensuring every person can grow their family with dignity.

Thanks to the Black Maternal Health Caucus, and Representative Lauren Underwood’s and Representative Alma Adams’ leadership, nine key bills - - including The Kira Johnson Act, The Moms Matter Act and The IMPACT to Save Moms Act - - were introduced yesterday as part of the Caucus’ Black Maternal Momnibus.

Among a variety of systems-level policy actions, the Momnibus' *NINE* bills address the need for comprehensive health coverage from pregnancy through a minimum one-year postpartum period, requires the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to introduce new payment models and grant programs to better integrate behavioral health and social services with respectful, culturally congruent medical care, and forges a path to support hospitals and health systems in becoming more accountable for the provision of respectful, anti-racist care. It also presents an innovative approach to paying for maternity care.

Now is the time for ACTION. Call or write your Congressperson or Senator and ask them to support the Black Maternal Health Momnibus! And check out our website [[link removed]] for more resources to support your advocacy journey.

I’m thrilled that March for Moms has played a critical role in the development of the Momnibus and that we’ll continue to have an impact on Congress when we head to Washington, D.C. alongside our partner Every Mother Counts [[link removed]] (at the moment, we're still planning to go but are carefully watching guidance from the CDC and local and Federal officials) to participate in our joint Advocacy Day on May 4. Join us and register [[link removed]] today to make your voice heard in Congress!

As always, thanks for your support and participation as part of this larger community trying to advance critical policy change.

With gratitude,

Katie
