Hi John — as we prepare for a bustling election year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of our team’s victories to help get folks energized for what’s to come.

In 2018, Lauren was elected to represent Illinois’ 14th district and made history as the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress. This team did that and it set the stage for even more impressive achievements!

In 2020, Lauren narrowly won her second term by just 5,374 votes in one of the election's top 10 closest U.S. House races. Our team rallied to ensure we had the resources to overcome the odds — and just like Lauren said, “This is not my victory – it is our victory.”

In 2022, our campaign faced a significant hurdle following Illinois’ redistricting process. 70% of IL-14 became brand new territory, meaning tens of thousands of voters were seeing Lauren’s name on their ballot for the first time. This team worked diligently to ensure voters across the district knew about the work we’d accomplished so far and the important issues to tackle ahead.

That resulted in Lauren’s third term in Congress where she now serves as House leadership co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. This makes her the first Black woman elected to House leadership by her colleagues since Shirley Chisholm in 1977. What a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.
