John—This time of year, it’s common for campaigns like ours to see a dip in fundraising, and unfortunately, that’s true for us too.

We fell short of our last fundraising goal, and in the past few weeks, we’ve seen a significant dip in the number of grassroots donations to our campaign.

I don’t want to sound the alarm bells arbitrarily, but I am concerned.

Mike Johnson and his far-right money groups have already raised $16 million in just a few weeks. With election experts calling NY-17 one of the most important races in determining the House majority, we know Johnson will pour millions into our district to defeat me.

We need to drastically pick up the pace on our grassroots fundraising to defeat Mike Lawler and retake our House majority.

The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball are all calling NY-17 a “toss-up” and one of the most competitive districts in the country. Mike Lawler has even been named the second-most vulnerable Republican in Congress by Daily Kos.

With the Republican majority hanging by a thread, flipping NY-17 is required to retake our House majority. But we need to pick up the pace if we’re going to ensure we have the resources to win.
