I created the Rooted in Community Leadership PAC to support families of all backgrounds, especially people who’ve been left out and marginalized. We build a better future by investing in grassroots organizations and progressive candidates who are truly rooted in their communities.

Right now, the vast majority of Americans support a ceasefire, and they don't want to see their tax dollars go to more war. Many of our communities still don't have clean water, and most families are living paycheck to paycheck, deciding between paying medical bills or putting food on the table. Many are on the brink of homelessness.

We need elected leaders who don’t take money from corporations, who represent their constituents as public servants, and who are not afraid to stand up to the unjust status quo. Our PAC also helps expand the reach of movement groups, many of which did not hesitate to support a ceasefire.

Our government continues to find billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund war, while claiming there's not enough to meet Americans’ basic needs, including clean drinking water.

Amidst a rise in antisemitic, Islamophobic, and anti-Arab hate crimes, we also continue to see violence against Black people, Indigenous people, other people of color, and LGBTQ+ people.

So many local and state elected officials have supported our work on making water a human right, pushed back on “development” projects that push out our residents, taken on corporate polluters, and now back the demand for a ceasefire.

Marginalized communities are feeling unheard and betrayed. There's still so much to do to build the true multiracial democracy we need, and to ensure our communities’ safety and well-being.

Last year in Michigan, my Rooted in Community Leadership PAC supported dozens of candidates and grassroots organizations at the state and local level―donating more than $128,000 to build progressive political power and invest directly in our communities.

The Rooted in Community Leadership PAC helps us support causes throughout the district. It's also how we support progressive candidates who are rooted in and truly represent their communities.

Even though 80% of Democrats support a ceasefire, their representatives are not listening. This month, we learned that the anti-Palestinian group AIPAC is planning to spend at least $100 million in an attempt to defeat me and other progressive candidates who have had the courage to speak out and demand a ceasefire.

Last year, AIPAC and their affiliated groups spent about $10 million in Michigan and Pennsylvania alone, on attack ads and mailers to defeat progressive Rep. Andy Levin and to attempt to defeat me and now-freshman Rep. Summer Lee.

We need more elected leaders from the local, state, and federal level who truly represent the people and who are advocating for the changes our communities desperately need.
