Hello John,
As a basic duty, a government created by and for the people must protect the people.
But in our country, we’ve systematically failed to protect our communities from the terror of gun violence.
Democratic lawmakers have proposed gun violence prevention measures over and over again, here in North Carolina and nationally. I’ve told our legislature I would sign them into law.
We know these measures can work because none of our peer countries with similar laws see the same epidemic of violence. But far-right legislators in allegiance to the gun lobby have blocked any real action.
It’s long past time for our leaders to set aside partisanship and do what’s right. Until Republicans agree to come to the table, we can only keep raising our voices to demand change.
John, I want to make sure your voice is heard. If you have a minute or two, consider sharing your thoughts with me about the gun violence epidemic and solutions to the crisis.
Thank you for your input,
Roy Cooper
