Recently, the Television Academy announced GLAAD will receive the 2023 Governors Award at the 75th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards for our work in accelerating acceptance of LGBTQ people through media, entertainment, and beyond. Awarded by the Television Academy’s Board of Governors, the Governors Award is bestowed upon an individual, company or organization that has made a profound, transformational and long-lasting contribution to television.

Thank you for being an advocate for LGBTQ equality. This honor is just the latest example of the impact your support has made towards 100% LGBTQ acceptance.

GLAAD Celebrates Pro-Equality Victories In 2023 Elections

GLAAD celebrated the projected results of the 2023 elections earlier this month in Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Ohio that advanced LGBTQ equality and representation, as well as pro-equality candidates and issues. These results reflect GLAAD's 2023 Accelerating Acceptance report that made it clear that the majority of Americans support equality for LGBTQ people.

Transgender Awareness Week

From November 13-19, GLAAD observed Transgender Awareness Week by hosting events, sharing resources, amplifying media, raising awareness about trans people, and activating allyship for the community.

Beyond the Aggressives Screening

GLAAD hosted screenings in New York and Los Angeles of BEYOND THE AGGRESSIVES: 25 Years Later, the follow-up to the seminal 2005 documentary THE AGGRESSIVES, which follows masculine of center and trans masculine people of color through their lives. The doc is now in theaters and coming to Showtime on Paramount+ next year.

Eight Books from Trans Authors

GLAAD compiled and shared a list of books to read by trans authors, centering first-person accounts of identity and transition.
