A Miami police informant, a prophetic racist and lingering questions about JFK's death

Florida Bulldog first published the story that follows in November 2013 in advance of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963.

Today, on the 60th anniversary, questions about Kennedy’s death are once again in the news, including the results of a new Gallup poll that found most Americans continue to doubt that JFK was killed by a lone gunman.

While most speculation about a conspiracy to murder the president has focused on the CIA and unhappy Cold Warriors who viewed the young Kennedy as an opponent, the recent rise of the extreme right brings fresh reminders of the bigotry and violent racial hatred evinced by their ideological ancestors.

As 1963 recedes further into the past, it is more and more unlikely that we will ever know the whole truth behind what happened in Dallas six decades ago. What follows, though, is the remarkable story of a Miami police informant who less than two weeks before the assassination tape-recorded a right-wing extremist describing how Kennedy would be shot “from an office building with a high-powered rifle.” The president was due in Miami days later.
