Get involved using our Take Action Toolkit No images? Click here Dear John, I emailed you last week to let you know about our upcoming “elephant in the room” photo stunt. As I said last week, fossil fuels have been the elephant in the room at every COP Climate Conference to date. So as the COP28 UN Climate Talks begin we’ll be doing some creative actions to put pressure on the Government to tackle the “fossil fuel elephant in the room”! I’m emailing again to let you know how you can get involved in this action and to share our take action toolkit. As you’ll see from the toolkit, we’re asking you to share creative “elephant in the room” photos on social media next Thursday, 30th November. We want to create a Twitter storm! If hundreds of us tweet the photos on the same day, and tag Government ministers in those tweets, we can really ramp up the pressure for action on fossil fuels. You can take your own photos with the help of the take action kit - or use Stop Climate Chaos photos that we’ll also share in the same kit. The kit contains sample text to go with your photos - along with an option to email Government Ministers for those not on social media. You might like to take your “elephant in the room” photos on 29th November - so that you have them all ready to go for the Twitter storm on 30th November. To get photos for the Twitter storm, a small group of Stop Climate Chaos members will do an elephant in the room photo stunt outside the Dáil on 29th November. Instead of asking lots of people to join us at the Dáil, we’re encouraging you to instead take your own photos at home, or in your local area, with the help of the action kit. That way we’ll have a wonderful variety of different photos taken from all over Ireland! We are however looking for a small number of volunteers to take part in the Dáil photo stunt at 12.30 on 29th November- we’ll need those volunteers to come wearing a black suit and to bring a black umbrella. If you’re interested in volunteering please email [email protected] and he’ll let you know what more is involved. Please note the time change from what was advertised previously. We’ll share the photos from our stunt outside the Dáil in the take action kit. So if you can’t take your own photos at home you can use these photos to take part in the social media storm on 30th November. Imagine how Government Ministers will feel if we flood their social media with calls for them to phase out fossil fuels both nationally and internationally. It could be the final push they need to really champion fossil fuel phase at COP28. And the elephant photos we include with our messages will make them hard to ignore! So are you in?Looking forward to seeing your social media posts and pictures next Thursday. In solidarity Aaron Stop Climate Chaos Stop Climate Chaos is a coalition of civil society organizations campaigning to ensure Ireland does its fair share to tackle the causes and consequences of climate change. |
