** A short note from CPC President Will Swaim:
------------------------------------------------------------

Dear John,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday! As I recover from my turkey coma, I wanted to jot down a quick epiphany I had at my family's feast.

We think often about leaving a legacy – but the truth is our legacy is leaving.

I’ve watched my friends, my family and loved ones pack their bags and leave California for good because of rising crime, skyrocketing home prices, and failing schools.

Thanksgiving has become the rare occurrence when the whole family be together - an experience that has become more commonplace as wary Californian's continue to hit the eject button.

Here’s the through line: Public policy matters.

Bad policy separates our families, destroys our communities and leaves our students rudderless.

That’s why the California Policy Center fights every day to implement good policy, curtail bad legislation and change the hearts and minds of Californians across the state.

That gives hope to the students who now have education options, parents who can sleep at night knowing their teachers won’t lie to them, and thousands of government employees who have stopped lining the pockets of corrupt union bosses.

This morning I woke up with my family still around, thankful and renewed in my commitment that THIS is the future we fight for every day.

Will you join us?

Whether $5 or $1,000, you can fight for your legacy by partnering in our work to resuscitate the California Dream and keep our families together. ([link removed])
