‘Tis the Season: Reflecting on Peace and Our Path Forward
Today, I want to discuss two crucial issues: the national polling on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and the concerning influence of special interests in our political system.
Recent national polls indicate an overwhelming majority of Americans advocate for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. More than two-thirds (68%) of Americans support this initiative, reflecting a united desire for peace and stability in the region.
It's a positive step that my opponent has voiced support for a temporary ceasefire. However, this belated action cannot undo the 11,000 Palestinians who have already been killed. A permanent ceasefire should have been our priority much earlier. Our goal remains clear: to address and ultimately end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and to work towards a free and peaceful Palestine. Recent discussions about further hostage releases and the future of Hamas are crucial, but we must stay focused on the broader objective of lasting peace and justice in the region. The question still remains. Why did it take so long for Congress to call for this action?
The answer lies in how special interests manipulate our political system. Massive financial contributions from these groups have continually swayed politicians, overshadowing the voices of everyday Americans. This is evident in the current situation, where despite public support for a ceasefire, many politicians have not yet advocated for this crucial step towards peace.
My opponent remains silent on the ceasefire, ignoring the calls for peace echoed by progressive leaders like Representatives Bush and Ocasio-Cortez and moderates like Representative Jacobs. Instead, he prioritizes profit over people, bending to the will of special interests that pad his campaign with tens of thousands of dollars.
I will never bow to the whims of special interest, and will never take a dime of their corporate PAC money.
As part of our campaign, we are committed to transparency and integrity, refusing to let special interest money dictate our values and actions. We believe in representing the true will of the people, advocating for policies that reflect the needs and desires of our constituents.
While Congress sits still, you can take action. Call your representatives and demand that they call for a PERMANENT ceasefire now! Visit https://5calls.org/issue/israel-palestine-gaza-war-hamas-ceasefire/ to see who your legislators are.
