What a difference ten months makes, John.

It’s hard to believe that it was just ten months ago today that then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy made the unilateral decision to remove me from the House Intelligence Committee — where I had served as chairman and the ranking Democrat for years.

After enduring 15 humiliating rounds of votes to elect a House Speaker, those were Kevin’s priorities to set the House agenda for the year to come.

All in an effort to punish me for investigating and impeaching Donald Trump.

We launched this campaign for U.S. Senate two days later (and I promise you, that day happening to fall on Kevin McCarthy’s birthday was pure coincidence.)

Matt Gaetz introduced the PENCIL Act to bar me from receiving classified information the same day we launched this campaign.

Their efforts haven’t slowed down — not one iota.

McCarthy told the California Republican Party that I could “never” become California’s Senator.

But their efforts have been all bark, no bite.

As one Republican recently lamented on the House floor, they haven’t had one accomplishment they can take back home to voters, but they did censure me under personal threat from Donald Trump.

All the while, I’ve traveled up and down the state of California, meeting with voters and community leaders, building what will be the biggest grassroots campaign in state history to win this Senate race.

You deserve a government that works to solve problems. As a candidate for Senate, that’s the message I’m taking on the campaign trail.

While too many of my colleagues are focused on political stunts, I’m doing everything I can to make an impact on the issues affecting your life.

And in the Senate, I won’t let a filibuster or other draconian rules that appear nowhere within the Constitution impede the progress we still desperately need to make.
