John,

A single neighborhood in Bogotá, Colombia is home to dozens of abortion facilities.

That fact is a shameful testament to the damage caused by decades of America exporting abortion to traditionally pro-life countries. In fact, both of Colombia's major abortion chains have roots in the United States.

But Colombia is now looking to America for the solution to its abortion crisis.

After she saw a flyer marketing abortion to young people, Pamela Delgado launched the first 40 Days for Life campaign in Colombia. Now, the country has dozens of 40 Days for Life vigils--43 to be exact.

On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we talk with Pamela about how peaceful prayer has spared more than 400 Colombian babies from abortion.

Pamela's journey hasn't been easy. Early on, she lost two thirds of her team--who thought 40 Days for Life was too hard.

But hard work and relentless trust in God has made 40 Days for Life a national force that is reclaiming Colombia for life!

Popayan, Colombia

An eight-year-old boy in Colombia saved a baby from abortion.

A family praying at the Popayan vigil referred an abortion-bound mother to a local pregnancy center. The woman was surprised and touched by the family's concern for her.

When the family's eight-year-old son offered words of encouragement and prayed for this mother in crisis, everyone on site began to cry, and the mother decided to keep her baby.

Facatativa, Colombia

Vigil participants in Facatativa witnessed a true last-minute life saved.

As an abortion client sat in the waiting room prior to her appointment, somebody advised her to consider other options and encouraged her to talk to the people praying outside.

The expectant mother went out to talk with 40 Days for Life participants...before returning to the waiting room to proceed with her abortion.

40 Days for Life volunteers were able to reach the mother on her phone and encouraged her to come out once again. Finally, she chose life!

"The woman needs support, not an abortion," said 40 Days for Life Latin American Affairs Coordinator Lourdes Varela.

Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.”

—Genesis 4:8-10

Father, help us to embrace the fact that we are our “brother’s keeper.” When, due to selfish motives, we try to cast off this responsibility please call to us to account. We would be pleasing to you and to our “brother.” Through the help and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
