Friend,

My name is Ruky, Dignity in Dying’s Finance Manager.

I don’t usually send emails like this, but I’m getting in touch today because I have something important to tell you.

Big opportunities for change don’t come often - but 2024 will be full of them. With a Westminster General Election on the horizon and an Assisted Dying Bill to go before MSPs in Scotland, 2024 could be the year we finally get on the road to securing an assisted dying law.

We have the winning argument and the backing of 8 out of 10 people in the UK - but I have to be honest: if we don’t have enough people chipping in to keep our vital campaigns going, all the hard-won progress we’ve made could grind to a halt.

I’ve crunched the numbers and we need 1,600 new members to help fund our campaigns and make sure that in the key year ahead, we never miss a chance to push for dying people to have real choice.

Friend, will you become one of the 1,600 people driving Dignity in Dying’s campaigns forward, so that we don't let dying people down?

We’re powered by thousands of people just like you, who want to do the right thing by dying people and are giving what they can to fight for choice and compassion.

This year, the generosity of our members meant that we were able to:

  • Run ad campaigns that recruited tens of thousands more people to our movement
  • Grow local groups of Dignity in Dying supporters up and down the country
  • Support terminally ill people and their loved ones to tell their stories in the media
  • Launch high impact events in Westminster and Holyrood that raised our profile and changed people’s minds

Here’s the truth: without enough members to sustain our campaign, we won’t be able to put pressure on politicians or convince more people to join our call for law change - that means we’ll be losing ground to anti-choice lobbying groups.

For the sake of dying people who are too often forced to suffer against their wishes, we simply can’t let this happen. Friend, will you become a Dignity in Dying member and help put assisted dying at the top of the political agenda?

Thanks, Friend. We have ambitious plans that will get us even closer to law change - and it’s only thanks to determined people like you that we’ll be able to make them happen.
