Nottingham a world leader on climate action

Nottingham has been recognised for the third consecutive year as one of 119 cities around the world that is taking bold leadership on climate action by environmental non-profit organisation CDP.??

Receiving ?A List? status from CDP recognises Nottingham?s progress in building momentum to tackle the climate crisis, both in reducing emissions and building resilience to the impacts of climate change in our communities.?

Recent successes in Nottingham?s efforts to reduce carbon emissions include:?

We need everyone to get involved to support our ambition for Nottingham to be a carbon-neutral city by 2028. Residents can sign up to the Green Rewards app where you can win prizes for reducing your carbon footprint. Council secures funding to make roads in the city safer

We have accepted ?1.425million funding from the Department of Transport (DfT) to make changes that will make roads in the city safer.???

The Safer Roads Fund was introduced by the DfT to support road safety in England as part of a wider package of investment into Britain?s transport network. In total, ?47.5 million of Government funding is being invested across England to improve 27 of the country?s most dangerous roads.?

Changes to the A609 Ilkeston Road and Wollaton Road, and? the A6130 Gregory Boulevard, Radford Boulevard and Lenton Boulevard will reduce the risk of accidents.?

?And we'll also introduce two school safety schemes around Djanogly City Academy and Edna G Olds Primary and Dunkirk Primary.?

Brake the Road Safety Charity is this week sharing new information about how speeding is getting worse on our roads. One-in-four fatal crashes involve speeding and speed-related deaths are up 20 per cent in the past year.??

It's never worth risking lives to get somewhere a little faster - always stick to the speed limit or below if the conditions warrant it.?

The festive season is upon us and there are lots of great events in the city for everyone to enjoy:?

Christmas Market at Nottingham Castle | Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November?

It?s In Nottingham bring a Christmas Market to Nottingham Castle this weekend, featuring more than 35 independent stallholders, festive food and drink and family-friendly entertainment.??

Tickets are now sold out, but if you didn?t manage to get one you may still be able to visit. Limited walk-ups (?1 entry per person) will be available on the door, subject to site capacity at that time. You may encounter a short wait at busy times, particularly at the start of each session. Nottingham Castle annual pass holders will be allowed to enter for free during any timeslot.?

Winter Wonderland | Until Sunday 31 December?

Old Market Square has once again been transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Festive fun-seekers can enjoy the Sky Skate path, ground-level ice rink or observation wheel. There?s also a wide range of Christmas market stalls, an Ice Bar and the Sur La Piste and Altitude ski chalet bars. Nottingham city residents can receive a 10% discount on super off-peak and off-peak skating bookings when booking in advance.?

Christmas at Wollaton | Friday 1 ? Sunday 31 December

Christmas at Wollaton is back with a brand-new trail for 2023. With a whole new look, expect the unexpected and allow the Christmas spirit to take over. Surprises are around every corner, and festive food, warming drinks and picture-perfect moments add to the exciting and unique spectacle. Nottingham city residents can receive a 10% saving on selected timeslots when booking in advance.?
