** Celebrate and Support Small Business at this Year's Cultural Survival Bazaar!
------------------------------------------------------------

** Join Us for Our 47th Season of Indigenous
Arts and Cultures
------------------------------------------------------------

We are thrilled to announce that this year's Bazaar will feature an incredible showcase of more than 30 Indigenous businesses and three outstanding performers from across the globe. These businesses are renowned for their exceptional merchandise, which reflects their pride, heritage, and traditions. To provide a sneak peek of what awaits you at the Bazaar, we have handpicked a few artists for you to preview below.

** Retablos Palomino & Jimenez
------------------------------------------------------------

** (Quechua) Safeguarding Peruvian folk art with potato dough and plaster sculptures.

------------------------------------------------------------
Retablo Palomino & Jimenez are committed to safeguarding and celebrating the rich heritage of Peruvian folk art. Zuly Palomino Jimenez, a fourth-generation artist in her family, follows in the footsteps of her Ayacuchano ancestors by crafting intricate sculptures with potato dough and plaster, preserving the art form for future generations.

** Julio Laja Chichicaxtle
Papel Amate
------------------------------------------------------------

** (Otomi) Julio Laja Chichicaxtle infuses spiritual significance into his handmade Amate paper.
------------------------------------------------------------

Meet Julio Laja Chichicaxtle (Otomi) from Mexico at this year's Bazaar! Julio brings handmade Amate paper, a material rich in spiritual significance. While preserving the traditional art of Amate-making, Julio elevates this craft to new heights. He twists and molds the paper into patterns, seamlessly integrating braided and twisted strips into his designs.

** Afri-root Collective - East Africa
------------------------------------------------------------

** (Buganda) Handmade home decor, handbags, wallets, and clutches made from sustainable materials like tree bark and banana bark.
------------------------------------------------------------

Afri-root Collective, based in Uganda, uses a process that involves removing the bark from trees and protecting the trunk with banana leaves. The bark is then boiled and beaten with a wooden mallet to spread the fibers. After drying in the sun, it becomes non-woven and ready to use. This traditional technique has been around for over 600 years, with their ancestors wearing bark before cotton became popular.
