As snow begins to fall this winter, it could be splattered red with the blood of helpless mama bears.
Frail and weak, they wander from their dens in search of nutrition for their babies. But with one bullet, the trophy hunters hiding in the trees could leave these helpless cubs orphaned. Without their mother, they’ll be left to starve, freeze, or meet the same fate at the hands of a trophy hunter. We can’t let bear families die like this. Donate $27 today and help protect our nation’s wildlife and the planet before it’s too late!
Hunting season is in full swing, Friend. Trophy hunters are killing black bears in the most brutal ways imaginable. They resort to painful metal clamps, leaving bears reeling for days on end. Hunting dogs are released to chase down bears in an unfair fight. In some places, hunters go so far as to dynamite bear dens while they sleep!
Not even grizzly bears are safe from the slaughter. That’s because trophy hunters and Big Polluters are teaming up to strip away the protections that keep them safe. With grizzlies out of the way, these greedy interests would have free rein to ravage the land for profit. Mining, logging, and other planet-destroying practices could soon take over. Is that the world you want to see, Friend? Me neither. That’s why I need you to step up now and stand up to the greedy interests hoping to harm our planet for profit!
Grizzly bears must be protected at all costs. Donate $27 to Friends of the Earth today to help protect wildlife and our planet!

In 2016, critical Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections for grizzlies were rolled back. That’s why now in several states, the horrific and tortuous hunting methods I mentioned above are 100% legal. But it doesn’t end there. Extremist lawmakers are getting even more aggressive with proposing anti-bear laws, putting these vulnerable animals at even greater risk of extinction.
As you read this, corrupt politicians are working with hunting lobbyists and special interests to try and remove even more life-saving ESA protections from grizzly bears. But if they succeed, grizzlies could be pushed past the point of no return.
You see, grizzly bears once numbered 50,000 in the continental U.S. But human impact decimated their population. Hunting, trapping, and habitat loss put grizzlies at serious risk. That’s why they received protections under the Endangered Species Act.
But even with protections, grizzlies are still struggling to survive. Their habitat is shrinking. Their food sources are increasingly hard to find. And climate change is driving them closer to the brink. As a result, fewer and fewer cubs are surviving to reach adulthood. And adult bears are dying at alarming rates, too. That’s why we can’t let greedy interests slash the few protections that are still keeping grizzlies safe.

What you may not know is that grizzlies help keep our planet healthy! These intelligent animals keep prey populations in check. That allows other plant and animal species to thrive. What’s more, grizzlies roam far and wide, enriching soils and transporting vital nutrients as they go. But it doesn’t end there -- scientists are continuously discovering more and more ways grizzlies play an important part in their ecosystems.
That’s why we have to protect these bears at all costs. And that means protecting the Endangered Species Act. These vital laws don’t just protect bears, though. They provide critical protection for America’s iconic animal species. They’re also some of our most effective safeguards in the fight to protect our public lands and curb catastrophic climate change.
Yet, trophy hunters and Big Polluters think it’s more important to kill for fun and put our planet in danger. All for the sake of profit. Plain and simple, the inhumane treatment of bears and their cubs can’t continue. One bullet doesn’t just kill a mother bear. It means her cubs will be left to die as well. And if bears are wiped out, their lands will be ravaged for profit, too.
I need you in this fight if our nation’s wildlife and the planet are going to stand a chance.
