John,

Today is Black Friday, when traditionally many folks pull out their wallets to kick off the holiday shopping season.

We thought that while your wallet was out and getting some use, you would consider donating to the National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund.

Donating to the NCTE Action Fund is a lot easier than holiday shopping. It’s quicker and there are way less decisions. We can even help you with the decisions that you do need to make:

1. Should I donate? So glad you asked. Yes.

2. Should I donate to NCTE or the NCTE Action Fund? Great question. If you itemize your taxes (vs taking the standard deduction), donating to NCTE is likely best for you because it's tax-deductible [[link removed]] . If you take the standard deduction, we’d love for you to support the NCTE Action Fund, which does all the same work as NCTE (and more!), but is not tax-deductible [[link removed]] .

3. How much should I donate? We suggest matching what you spend on Black Friday , but truly, ANY amount makes a difference.

4. Could I become a recurring donor if I am not already one ? Of course! Today is a great day to sign up to become a monthly donor. NCTE is celebrating its 20 th Anniversary, so $20 a month or more would be an incredible sign of support.

5. Can I donate as a gift? Yes. How efficient of you; finishing up your holiday shopping while donating to support trans rights, lives, and equality. This option is available on our NCTE Action Fund [[link removed]] and NCTE [[link removed]] donation pages.

6. Why should I donate ? I don’t have the space for all the reasons, but here are three. In 2023, 500+ anti-trans bills were introduced to prevent trans people from living as their authentic selves. We’ve helped folks on the ground fight these attacks. The Federal government released—and we submitted public comment on—at least six (6) updated federal regulations impacting the trans community. Congress addressed trans rights and contacted us dozens of times, asking us to provide testimony, briefings, talking points, and more. (Email us for more reasons!)

7. Should I ask my friends and family to donate? Look at you, brainstorming ideas. Yes! Encouraging others to support us is a HUGE help. You can also consider forwarding our emails and posting about your support of NCTE’s fight for trans rights on social media.

8. Anything else? You won’t find a 50% off sale here, but your support will make a huge difference. We promise.

We are grateful to have you on this journey with us. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Your support makes our work possible. We simply cannot do it without you. Thank you for considering donating again, more, or for the first time. Thank you.
