Kia ora John,
You will have seen the new government has finally been formed and has released its plans for the country. Genuinely, I wish them well in governing Aotearoa New Zealand. The mahi is not easy, but it is essential. I wish them luck in managing their internal relationships, and I hope they keep their eyes firmly fixed on New Zealanders' needs.
I've looked through their coalition agreements, though, and already I'm concerned manyNew Zealanders are about to be forgotten by their own government. Labour's work as Opposition couldn't be more critical with these three right-wing parties in charge. John, can you donate today to help Labour stand up for all New Zealanders? <[link removed]>
YES! I'LL CHIP IN <[link removed]>From the incoming Government's documents, we've found out:
- The coalition is pressing ahead with inflationary, unfunded tax cuts;
- a rollback of our firearms laws and worker protections;
- the introduction of a divisive Treaty Principles Bill;
- and massive cuts to public services New Zealanders’ rely on.
With a work list like that, a robust, progressive Opposition is more important than ever. I'm humbled to have been confirmed by our Labour caucus to lead that work.
Our fightback starts today. Are you up for it, John?I sure am.
In Opposition, Labour will be the voice for all New Zealanders, even those the government would rather ignore. We'll protect our own Government's legacy of kindness and progress. And we'll work every day to be ready to re-take government in 2026.
National and ACT have rich friends with deep pockets - we'll have to be a true community-wide movement to compete with that. John, can you chip in <[link removed]>$10, or a even a little more if you can manage it, help me protect our progress and save New Zealanders from painful cuts to hospitals, schools, and housing? <[link removed]>
YES! I'LL CHIP IN <[link removed]>Every dollar we raise helps us run campaigns to protect New Zealanders and ensure everyone has a voice. The very best way to help[ is to give a small, monthly donation <[link removed]>, but if you'd rather donate one-off, that's also helpful. <[link removed]>
Thank you for all your support this year, John. I'm so proud to lead this movement and to represent our values of progress, inclusion, and kindness at this critical time.
Cheers,
Chris Hipkins
Labour Leader
