Hi Friend,
I want to sincerely thank you for being such a faithful supporter of our nation's severely disabled War on Terror veterans and friend of the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes. I'd like to share with you just a couple of the many urgent requests that we have received in the last week from wounded heroes in desperate need of emergency financial aid.
1. A married Army veteran from Florida, with two grown children, served 11 tours overseas and was in the Army for 12 years before he was severely injured in Iraq. He was shot by a sniper and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. His wife and full-time time caregiver found out she has lupus and can no longer work. They are struggling to pay all of their bills. They need to prevent a foreclosure and utilities shut off with a total of $5,448.47.
2. A married Army veteran from Louisiana with 2 young children, was thrown twice when bombs went off during his two tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. Due to this, he suffers from a traumatic brain injury, migraine, anxiety, and PTSD. His wife does not work because she is his full-time caregiver. Once inflation hit, they have not been able to afford bills and food. They got behind on their electric bill and received a shut-off notice. They need $905.00 to become current and keep their electricity on.
Financial stress can sometimes be just too much for my fellow injured veterans to bare. We can be stubborn and it's not in our nature to ask for help. Every day, more than 20 veterans take their own lives — a number that often increases around the holidays, when many of my fellow servicemembers and veterans struggle to afford basic living expenses, much less worry about whether they can provide their families with a decent Thanksgiving meal. That is why the Coalition started the Thanksgiving Meals Program over 13 years ago. So caring Americans like you can say "thank you," to those who have sacrificed so much for freedom. With your support, to date, the Coalition has given over $1.25 million to provide more than 20,000 Thanksgiving meals to severely disabled veterans and their families, just like mine. | |
