** Notes of Appreciation
------------------------------------------------------------

Today, IDP’s staff are taking a well deserved break to spend time with loved ones and reflect on all we have to be thankful for. In the spirit of gratitude, we are sharing some notes of appreciation we have received for the work that your support makes possible.

From our inception we have been providing legal advice to criminal defense attorneys and immigration attorneys representing immigrant clients. Our hotline is a vital resource. This year during one exchange in which we helped a defense attorney develop a case strategy, he sent an email saying “It’s always comforting to know you and IDP are there for us.”

One of our hallmarks is not giving up, even if the odds appear to be stacked against our cause. We help defense attorneys develop their most effective advocacy and help immigrants realize their agency in a complex system. One attorney described our impact while working on a challenging case:

We grow crim-imm expertise across the field. Our trainings, resources, and intern program provide education and skill development, strengthening the movement for immigrant justice. One recent IDP intern told us: "A few weeks ago I had to read a RAP sheet, and I was so grateful to you for having walked me through all of the intricacies of these (continually confusing) documents last summer!"

Each day we witness the cruel injustices of the crim-imm system. We work with longtime residents who are detained and facing removal. We support asylum seekers who are told their criminal conviction disqualifies them from protection from persecution. We work alongside the many family members, community members, and loved ones who suffer from the ripple effects of an unjust and inhumane system. This work is difficult, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to advocate for those who are treated as disposable.

Join us in the fight. With your help, we can continue to provide the collaboration and resources necessary to fight for the rights of all immigrants. Your gift can make all the difference, please donate today.
