John,
I want to address the growing concern over COVID-19, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, and provide more details about what my administration is doing to protect Kansans from the spread of the disease. Kansans are safe, and the state is prepared.
There is a lot of misinformation currently being spread about COVID-19, so I've worked with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to create online resources to answer your questions.
We must continue to take the spread and risk of the coronavirus seriously. Over the weekend, Kansas had its first confirmed case of coronavirus. But I want to reiterate, there is no need to panic. The best way to protect yourself and your family is by using good hygiene practices: wash your hands, cough into your sleeve, avoid touching your face, and stay home if you aren't feeling well.
I strongly urge every Kansan to stay up to date on the most recent news regarding COVID-19. For more information on the steps my administration is taking to keep the risk of spreading COVID-19 low, please go to kdheks.gov.
Thank you,
Laura
