You are probably familiar with the Thanksgiving story of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people who gathered together in difficult circumstances to give thanks for the fall harvest. But did you know that it was 242 years later that Thanksgiving became an official holiday, and that it was in the middle of our country’s civil war?

Every year since 1863, our country has paused to give thanks.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
