Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I'm of course a bit biased, but I would say that Thanksgiving is really at its best in Michigan. Family. Friends. Football. Fall-themed crockery. Classic American Thanksgiving.
We also get to enjoy our own Thanksgiving day parade in Detroit – the second oldest in the country, alongside that ‘other’ parade in NYC. My dad used to take us down when he worked at Vernors, and my mom used to volunteer years ago. The parade had a bunch of new floats this year, a massive Turkey Trot 5k race, and the highlight at the end, to the squeals of the children, is Santa.
This year, I took my nieces down to see the festivities, and it was in grand form. Nothing is better than traditions with family, and moments of joy in an otherwise busy world.
So as you gather today and enjoy the food, football, or whatever your traditions may be, don't forget to reflect on the many things we have to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving.
