Friend, by now you know that we’re running a 100% grassroots campaign. That means we’re accountable to you, and you only. But my opponent, Richard Neal, accepted more corporate campaign money than any other person in Congress last year according to The American Prospect. This is the same Congressman who chairs the committee that writes our country’s tax code.
I am running for Congress to represent our community (and only our community) -- not corporations. I’m running to bring our voices back to Washington and stop the corporate greed that has kept our district back from progress for the last 30 years. But that means I need your support to go up against the corporate machine that is our incumbent.
In 2019, Richard Neal accepted more than $1.4 million from corporate PACs. As chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Neal has more power than any other member of the House of Representatives to address corporate tax avoidance. However, in his first year as committee chairman, Neal didn’t bring forward any substantive legislation to address this issue.
In fact, he often torpedoes legislation that takes aim at corporate profits, like when he suddenly pulled support from legislation that would’ve ended the bad practice of surprise medical billing last year.
I promise that, in my first year in Congress, I will immediately get to work on undoing the corporate harm that has been legislated into our laws and policies. And that’s why I’ve been endorsed by progressive organizations all across the country.
I believe in people-powered politics, because it is the future of our democracy. People should be the strongest voice in their government, and it’s time we remind Washington of that. That means we rely on your support; without it, this campaign would not stand a chance against Neal’s corporate donors.
Donate today to keep us in this fight to bring progress back to Western and Central Massachusetts.
Together we will make change, Alex
