Dear Friend,
As many of us across the United States get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, the National Alliance to End Homelessness wants to share its gratitude for our community of advocates, partners, and donors like you that help to propel our collective work.
The beginning of the holiday season is traditionally seen as a time to give thanks, and to express togetherness and generosity. The Alliance is grateful for so much, but especially for the work we have the privilege to accomplish every day. But in order to do our work well, we need to understand the origins of the crisis and how homelessness impacts different people.
For some people who are deeply affected by homelessness and housing instability, Thanksgiving is not a celebration ([link removed]) , but a painful reminder of loss and oppression that continues to impact them today. In fact, to this day Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, American Indian and Alaska Native people experience homelessness at an alarmingly higher rate than the rest of the U.S. population.
We’ve got a lot of work to do to address disparities in who experiences homelessness. But we are grateful to have talented, caring and impactful partners working alongside and in community with us. We hope you will join us in this work.
Our staff have gathered resources to assist our supporters to learn more about homelessness and about what we do at the Alliance:

* Taking an Equitable Approach to Unsheltered Homelessness ([link removed])
* Long Overdue Visibility for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Experiencing Homelessness ([link removed])
* Serving Native Women Experiencing Homelessness from Trauma to Transformation ([link removed])
We hope this information inspires you to work alongside us to end homelessness.
We wish a happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate, and a peaceful Native American Heritage Month ([link removed]) for all.
In solidarity,
The National Alliance to End Homelessness
