** COVID-19: What you need to know to keep vulnerable populations safe!
------------------------------------------------------------
The Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness (ACEH) has teamed up with the experts at the Anchorage Health Department (AHD) and the Municipality of Anchorage - Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center (MOA OEM) to deepen prevention and preparation activities for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

ACEH has added a COVID-19 Resources ([link removed]) tab to our website that can be found by clicking here. ([link removed]) We will keep this page up to date as we receive additional information and resources from AHD and the MOA OEM.

Information on 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is rapidly changing. One thing you can do is stay informed through reputable, trusted sources like:

Urgent Request: If you are a provider organization, please fill out the Infectious Disease ([link removed]) Preparedness Checklist – Organization Self Assessment ([link removed]) and email it to Dakota Orm at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) by 5:00 PM Friday March 13. ACEH is working with some of our private partners to determine if resources are available to support providers in preventative actions. Your assessment helps us direct these resources! We have also posted the Infection Control in Homeless Shelters in the State of Alaska ([link removed]) Manual on our website for your convenience. This is the most
comprehensive local guidance on how to keep your organization and consumers safe and healthy.

ACEH will be hosting a conversation with providers at the Shelter Community of Practice Meeting on Wednesday March 11^th to discuss further. If you are interested in learning more about this meeting please email [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) for more information.

Currently there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19, but here are some simple prevention measures you can take to keep yourself and others safe:
* Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
* Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
* Stay home when you are sick.
* Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
* Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
* Older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes or lung disease should avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces. For more guidance, see the CDC's People at Risk for Serious Illness from COVID-19 web page ([link removed]) .

We will communicate additional information and share resources as they become available. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Dakota Orm at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .
