Justice Democrats

John,

Ahead of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and say thank you.

Thank you for standing with Justice Democrats, our bloc of diverse, progressive, working-class candidates, and our fight for progress this year — especially over these difficult last two months.

In light of the horrific events in Israel and Gaza, our candidates in the Squad had the political courage to lead the call for peace. Calling for a ceasefire and the release of all hostages was not a popular stance amongst those in Washington; it still isn’t, even though the majority of voters support it. But Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, Summer Lee, Jamaal Bowman, Ilhan Omar, AOC, and Ayanna Pressley don’t care about what’s popular with the political elite: they care about fighting for our shared values and human rights for all.

We knew the retribution from our opponents would be swift, and it was. Republicans and Democrats alike targeted Rashida, the only Palestinian American in Congress, with ugly rhetoric, personal attacks, and a formal censure to police her calls for peace. Rashida gracefully stood strong with support from her progressive brothers and sisters, and we remembered the fact that the second person to ever be censured in the House was censured for introducing a motion to abolish slavery. History will not look kindly on the 234 Congressmembers who took this bigoted stance against Rashida.

Of course, AIPAC wasted no time launching attack ads against Rashida, Summer, and Jamaal across their districts. We already knew they were recruiting challengers to run against the Squad in 2024, but since our candidates led the call for a ceasefire, they have committed to quadruple their spending against them to $100,000,000.

Our progressive movement faced unprecedented attacks for calling out this genocide and ethnic cleansing for what it is, but we also received an incredible outpouring of support from people like you who refused to sit in silence.

The 2024 election is less than one year away, and we know the fights ahead won’t be easy — especially with corporate- and Republican-funded groups like AIPAC and Moderate PAC using their war chests against us and our candidates.

But with the support we’ve seen from folks like you, I am more hopeful than ever that Justice Democrats and our progressive champions will once again overcome the odds and continue to lead our movement for justice and progress for all. Thank you again for your calls, petition signatures, and contributions during this critical moment.

In solidarity,

Alexandra Rojas
