Folks,
This month, our campaign hosted our second annual Women with Nikki Luncheon in Springfield, Illinois. Over 300 women from Central and Southern Illinois joined us for an important discussion on how women are uniquely equipped to lead during challenging times. Every year, we’re going to grow this event, because as the first woman to represent Illinois’ 13th Congressional District, allowing space for conversations like this is incredibly important to me.

I led a panel discussion featuring women mayors throughout the district who have firsthand experience in leading their communities through crises, including rebuilding cities post-COVID and extreme weather events that caused day long power outages.
We all agreed that we need leaders who are sensitive to the stress and frustration people are feeling, who can pivot, and display honesty and integrity — traits that an analysis in the Harvard Business Review found are more likely found in women leaders.
There are more men named “Mike” who serve as committee chairs in Congress than there are women committee chairs total. It’s time for a change.

I’ve never been one to sit on the sidelines, and since coming to Congress, I’ve used compassion and understanding to listen to my constituents and work across the aisle to find solutions to the issues concerning them the most.

I look forward to continuing my work and welcoming women of all backgrounds to step up and join me as a voice for working families and a more equal and just future in Congress.

If our Women with Nikki luncheon showed us anything, it’s that women across our district are fired up and ready to keep fighting in Congress to advance our shared values.
There’s too much on the line to stop building on our momentum, so I hope I can count on you to take the next step and join our efforts to reach voters across the district: [[link removed]]
