Hi John,
Spending time with loved ones is a privilege and an opportunity to express our gratitude for each other. After a long day, I sit with Eddie and EJ, thinking about the holidays. I can’t help but feel grateful the three of us are healthy and safe. The holiday season makes me reflect on our communities’ past and future.
I recently read that Thanksgiving was first proclaimed by President Abraham Lincoln as a day of reflection after the Battle of Gettysburg’s victory that came with a big sacrifice. Learning this helped me navigate the feelings of gratitude and hope for what has been accomplished, but also strong feelings of how much more there is left to do.
I continue to give thanks for our community wins that defeated anti-immigrant policymakers, protected the Affordable Care Act, and elected Democrat leaders statewide to Arizona. These wins give us the strength to do more for one another. I carry our work every day on the campaign trail to get elected into Congress to serve the communities of Congressional District 3.
I wish you and your loved ones a Happy and reflective Thanksgiving.

Con mucho amor!
